Running a Tab

Running a Tab in a bar or restaurant is a common occurrence. It speeds up customer service by allowing several employees to wait on multiple customers simultaneously and keep track of all of their purchases until they are ready to settle their bill. This same concept can help you in your golf shop on busy days. You can set aside a transaction while Ms. Delay doubles back for one more look at the sale rack just as you were about to swipe her credit card and there is a line 4 deep at your counter. As I said in last week's newsletter, you can also use this feature to track demo clubs and rentals. Of course if you have a snack bar or simple F&B operation, you can also use this just like you would at any bar or restaurant.

The Tab feature is optional. To turn it on in your system, Go To Options - Sales Options - Sales by Terminal and check the "Show ‘Save/Get Sales Tab' button" as seen below.

To save a transaction you started to a Tab, click the "Save Tab" button at the bottom of the sale screen.

This will pop up the following screen. I enter the name of the shopper and Click OK. Note that if you are selling to a member account, the name will be filled in for you. Also you can save this transaction to an existing tab, popular in the bar area.

This will return you to the Sale screen where you can continue to ring in new sales as needed. When you're ready to settle up an outstanding Tab, click the Get Tab button to retrieve it.

This will show you the Open Tabs. If you have a lot of Tabs, you can filter the list using the filter buttons at the top. To see the details of the Tab, either Double Click the folder to the left of the Tab Name or single click and Select the Tab you want.

This will bring you back to the sale screen where you left off when you Saved the Tab. From here you can add more items if needed and finish the transaction.

This feature is also available in version 5.2 of PSK. The look and feel is slightly different but the concept is the same. If you are using a Tab for a demo club, when the player returns the club, retrieve the tab and void the sale. If the player does not return the club, you can retrieve the Tab and charge it to the player.

Enjoy :)
